How is it made and what to know?

We make all our kimonos using the traditional ancient blockprint techniques. We craft the wooden stamps in order to achieve the final design. Any usage of electricity is avoided. Hence we use traditional manual sewing machines for the stitching. The inner finish is not smooth! But it does not affect the final look. The belts match the design of the kimono robe but if requested differently, we can change the design of the belts.

Material

All decorative parts of the kimono such as buttons or belts are made mainly but not only of waste materials. We are aiming to be as sustainable as our resources allow us to be. So far we have been successful in achieving 0 waste and 0 additional electricity as all the production happens in our homes and we keep our inventory at its minimum. We source the colors naturally. In this example we used natural indigo from India. INDIGO CAN BLEED! Hence please follow the below washing instructions.

How to take care of your Indigo Kimono?

Because it is 100% cotton with natural indigo, please wash it only by hand in lukewarm water using mild soaps ideally only in the underarm areas. Do not dry in direct sun and avoid dryers. We do not use electric sewing machines. It is all made by hand hence the traditional approach has an effect on the final finish. Color deviations can occur as a result of the technique called blockprint technique. We use wooden crafted stamps to achieve the final print designs.
